North Face Parka. Everybody calls this the Brooks Range or Himalayan parka but back in the day TNF called this The North Face Parka. Look it up in their early catalogs. It was their flagship parka and fittingly named after the brand when they made their best gear. Not baffled but it is actually two layers of down like the Sierra Parka with the seams offset for an overkill design. These parkas were intended to go to high altitudes and latitudes and did in fact.
This particular parka has a yellow nylon ripstop shell with the same lining. I see lots of these and later parkas with 60/40 shells and blue ripstop shells with same yellow lining but the yellow on yellow ripstop is uncommon. Condition is very good overall, this one has been worn and used lightly and it shows on the cuffs and with small holes shown in the pics but overall this parka is in great condition. Size is a medium tagged and it measures 23 inches armpit to armpit, shoulders 19-1/2 inches seam to seam, 27 inches shoulder seam to cuff for arm length and 32 inches from base of collar to hem. Having said all that, measurements like these for a baffled parka are only somewhat helpful. I am 5 foot 9 inches and a bit bit heavy at 195 lbs. I put this parka on and can wear it over a Levis jacket comfortably and it fits well. In fact i might keep it, except for the fact that I don't need another!
It is a great and rare example of an early TNF mountaineering gear.
